Who We Are

Electric Ride 805 is a coalition leading the transition to electric vehicles in the Central Coast region, so we can help meet the State of California’s goal of 5 million zero-emission vehicles by 2030.

Electric Ride 805 (formerly Plug-in Central Coast) has been preparing our region for electric vehicles (EVs) since 2011. The coalition was launched as a joint effort by the Community Environmental Council, the Central Coast Clean Cities Coalition, and the Air Pollution Control Districts of Ventura, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo counties. Key leaders from these organizations form the Electric Ride 805 Steering Committee. In 2018, the Ventura County Regional Energy Alliance joined the Steering Committee.

Electric Ride 805 has secured millions of dollars in grant funding for regional EV planning and projects targeting the tri-county region. Our partners support EV planning efforts, infrastructure projects, and EV education and outreach. Our EV car shows attract more than 30,000-40,000 people each year and we host numerous workshops with employers, property managers, and community groups that help more people drive electric. The Electric Ride 805 coalition has worked with hundreds of local governments, businesses, multifamily properties, charging hosts, and other stakeholders to build charging stations and make it easier to drive an EV throughout the Central Coast.

The coalition’s efforts have helped make the 805 region an EV leader with over 3,000 Level 2 charging stations, nearly 700 DC fast charging stations, and over 53,000 zero-emission vehicles.
